A-Z in Books
I saw this on another blog and thought it would be cool to do something similar.
A: Author you've read the most. For me, that's Emily Rodda. No one's heard of Emily Rodda, but I'd highly recommend her Three Doors Trilogy and her Deltora Quest series. Her Rowan of Rin books are also really good!
B: Best sequel ever. Without a doubt, Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. No second book slump at all--in fact, I'd say it's even better than Six of Crows.
C: Currently Reading. Masterminds by Gordan Korman.
D: Drink of choice while reading. Pink grapefruit flavored sparkling ice drinks.
E: E-reader or physical books. Physical books for sure.
F: Fictional character to date. I don't really want to date anyone, so I'm going to choose a fictional character to be best friends with. Probably Hazel Levesque from The Heroes of Olympus. Or Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. Or both!
G: Glad you gave this book a chance. Six of Crows! I wasn't going to read it because one of the most common Goodreads tags was 'romance,' and I'm not a huge fan of romance, but it was so good.
H: Hidden gem book. Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson. Not many people have read it or heard of it, but they're missing out.
I: Important moment in your reading life. Finally reading Harry Potter. I refused to read it for so long because it was popular, and because I felt that reading anything else would be disloyal to my favorite series (Deltora Quest), but when I finally decided to see what I was missing out on, my reading life was changed forever.
J: Just finished reading. Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers. It was pretty good.
K: Kinds of books you won't read. My first instinct was to put romance, but that's not accurate, because I loved The Fault in Our Stars and have reread it at least eight times. Then I realized that there was only one true answer: graphic novels. I hate them. I HATE them.
L: Longest book you've ever read. At first I thought it was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but I did a quick search and found out it was actually Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare. It was far from worth it. I've never enjoyed a Cassandra Clare series, but for some reason I keep reading them and reading them.
M: Major book hangover from. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo! I couldn't read anything but Harry Potter after that because nothing was that good!
N: Number of book cases owned. Only one, actually. But it's double sided.
O: One book you've read multiple times. Golly day, there are a lot of these. I've read every book I own at least twice, but most of those are series. I guess my most-read standalone book would be Ordinary Hazards, Nikki Grimes's haunted memoir.
P: Preferred place to read. Probably my bed, but also the couch and pretty much anywhere.
Q: Quote that inspires me. "Books are a light. A light that melts ignorance and hate. They show new paths to take. Or, for some, the depth of seemingly unfixable brokenness. Books illuminate something different for all of us. Books change lives because they're matches, starting fires that show the grandness of the world, the depth of others, a path for us to see ourselves." --Dave Connis, Suggested Reading
R: Reading regret. Pretty much every Cassandra Clare book. I'm sorry, I just don't like them!
S: Series you started and need to finish. Sheesh, there are a lot of these. I'm going to do a bulleted list and make myself feel guilty.
- The Unwind Dystology by Neal Shusterman
- The Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs
- The Secret Series by Pseudonymous Bosch
- The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
- The Cassidy Blake series by V. E. Schwab
- The Gilded Wolves series by Roshani Chokshi
- The Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger
- The Aru Shah series by Roshani Chokshi
T: Three of your all-time favorite books. I'm going to go with stand-alones, since I have far too many favorite series to list. The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill, It Ain't So Awful, Falafel by Firoozah Dumas, and The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.
U: Unapologetic fangirl for. Anything mythology-related. (This doesn't stop at books! I even get excited when looking at the periodic table of elements--Selenium, Uranium...)
V: Very excited for this release over any others. The third (untitled) Legacy of Orisha book.
W: Worst habit. Dog-earing pages. It's compulsive!
X: X marks the twenty-seventh book on your shelf. Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat by Lynne Jonell.
Y: Your latest purchase. I honestly have no idea.
Z: Zzzzzz... a book you stayed up too late reading. All of them, I guess?
